It is a round stone tower, 8 meters high and 3 meters wide. At first, the tower was used to take water from the river and pump it to the municipality and the central square.
Water Tower
The Water Tower was built in 1936 by José Dal Cero. It’s a round stone tower, 8 meters tall and 3 meters wide. Stones from a nearby place called “La Cachuera” were used. At first, the tower pumped water from the river to supply the town hall and the main square. Later, the water reached the old “Hotel Argentino,” now the Ramón J. Cárcano Institute.
Over time, and after surviving many floods, the tower became a symbol of the city.
La Cachuera
This is an area with volcanic stones called basalt. These rocks are found near or just under the water. People used the stones to build houses and roads. Impure sapphires and copper salts were also found here, along with stone tools like arrowheads — signs that Indigenous peoples once lived in the area.
